MUSCAT – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Oman on Saturday for high-level discussions on the Strait of Hormuz, as Tehran and Muscat continue diplomatic consultations aimed at ensuring safe maritime navigation through the strategically important waterway.
The international media reported that the two countries have been engaged in consultations over the past two months regarding arrangements for commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian officials have repeatedly stated that the country has the sovereign right to help manage and safeguard the security of the vital shipping route.

The visit comes amid continued regional efforts to maintain stability and prevent further escalation in the Gulf.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said the country’s armed forces remain on high alert and are closely monitoring any potential security threats.
In a statement posted on social media, Baqaei said military units stationed along Iran’s coastlines, islands, border regions and other strategic locations are maintaining constant surveillance to safeguard the country’s territorial integrity and national security. He added that the armed forces remain fully prepared to respond to any developments while continuing to preserve regional stability.

Separately, Pakistan urged all parties to honour their commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), describing the agreement as a key framework for promoting mutual understanding, peaceful coexistence and long-term regional stability.
Speaking at the United Nations, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, said Islamabad has remained actively engaged with regional and international partners in diplomatic efforts aimed at supporting de-escalation, advancing ceasefire initiatives and strengthening regional peace.
