TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Saturday debunked international media reports and clarified that they have never refused to go to Islamabad for talks amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
Talking to social media platform X, he stated that Iran’s position is being misrepresented by US media.
“We are deeply grateful to Pakistan for its efforts and have never refused to go to Islamabad. What we care about are the terms of a conclusive and lasting END to the illegal war that is imposed on us,” he wrote.

Earlier, international media including Indian claimed that Iran has formally refused to travel to Islamabad for holding talks with the US to end the conflict.
Last week, the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia convened in Islamabad to discuss potential avenues for resolving tensions between the United States and Iran. Following this gathering, Pakistan announced its intention to host future meetings between Iranian and U.S. officials.
However, according to a recent Wall Street Journal report, the latest regional diplomatic initiative spearheaded by Pakistan to negotiate a ceasefire between Washington and Tehran has hit a roadblock.
It claimed that Iran had formally informed the mediators that it will not attend the scheduled discussions in Islamabad, labeling the US demands as “unacceptable”.
