KARACHI – Sindh capital is set to experience further drop in temperature, raising concerns about ongoing cold spell in the city. Experts have warned that the intensity of the cold is unlikely to ease anytime soon.
The biting cold continues across Karachi and several rural cities in Sindh, with the metropolis recording single-digit minimum temperatures for the second consecutive day. Met Office predicts that on Sunday, the minimum temperature could fall as low as 8°C.
Karachi Weather Update
Chief Meteorologist of Karachi, Amir Haider Laghari, stated that the current cold wave is expected to persist until Tuesday. He explained that the surge in cold is linked to the recent western rainfall system, as cold winds naturally trail behind such systems.
Laghari further warned that after the western system fully exits, Siberian winds are likely to sweep in, causing temperatures to drop even further. Despite the ongoing chill, the meteorologist confirmed that no rainfall is expected in Karachi over the next 10 days, leaving the city to endure the cold dry conditions.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, especially during early mornings and late nights, as the city faces unusually low temperatures for this time of year.
Overall, Cold and dry weather is likely to prevail over most districts of the province. Moderate to dense fog is likely to persist over Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Larkana, Tando Jam, Mohenjodaro and surrounding areas.
