DG SCO to inaugurate multiple projects in GB, strengthening vision 2025

Special Communications Organization (SCO) is set to mark another milestone in its Vision 2025 initiative with a series of impactful inaugurations across Gilgit-Baltistan. The Director General SCO, Major General Umar Ahmad Shah HI(M), will kick off a week of transformative projects aimed at bridging the digital divide, fostering economic empowerment, and promoting sustainable development.

During the upcoming visit, the Director General SCO will inaugurate Mini Freelancing Hubs (FLHs) in Tallu, Nagar Khas, and Alchori. These hubs are designed to empower local freelancers with state-of-the-art facilities, high-speed internet, and essential resources. Additionally, in Murtazabad, the Women’s FLH will be inaugurated symbolizing SCO’s dedication to promoting gender equality and empowering women to achieve financial independence.

The visit will also mark the launch of the Software Technology Park (STP) in Harispurdas Nagar, further strengthening SCO’s role in driving digital transformation. Certification ceremonies at Pakistan’s First Freelancing Hub in Gilgit and STP Skardu will celebrate the achievements of youth trained in Web Development and Amazon business skills, equipping them with globally competitive expertise.

In addition to technological initiatives, the DG SCO will oversee community-focused projects, including the handover of vehicles to the Independent Living Center (ILC) in Gilgit to support children with special needs. At the Dastakari Center in ILC Skardu, sewing machines will be distributed to women, empowering them with tools to enhance their economic well-being.

The inauguration of critical infrastructure projects will also take place, including the Hybrid Power Solution (HPS) projects at the Sakwar BTS Site and Sadpara BTS Site, designed to improve telecommunication services in the region using sustainable energy solutions.
