ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced a facility for overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals visiting Pakistan for a temporary mobile phone registration service.
The facility allows eligible visitors to use their mobile devices without paying Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) taxes for up to 120 days per visit.
The facility operates through the PTA’s free and automated Temporary Mobile Registration System, accessible via the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) online portal. The service is designed to simplify mobile phone registration for eligible visitors during their stay in the country.
How to Apply for Temporary Mobile Registration
Applicants can begin the process by visiting the official PTA DIRBS portal at (https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk/drs/login).
First, users must create an account and select the option titled “Temporary Registration for Overseas Pakistanis and Foreign Nationals.” They must then provide their CNIC or NICOP details, along with passport information matching their immigration records. Foreign nationals are required to enter their passport details.
After verifying their accounts through email or SMS, applicants can log in and enter their mobile device’s International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number or numbers. The IMEI can be checked by dialling *#06# on the handset. Applicants must also specify whether the device supports a single or dual SIM.
The next step requires users to enter a Pakistani mobile number registered in their own name. They must select their mobile network operator, submit the application and complete verification through a one-time password (OTP).
Once the information has been successfully verified, the device will be registered under the temporary facility.
Registration Validity
The temporary registration remains valid for up to 120 days during each visit to Pakistan. Applicants can access the service through the official PTA website at www.pta.gov.pk for further information.
