ISLAMABAD – Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing and Consulate-General in Shanghai, in collaboration with the Board of Investment (BOI), successfully organized fourth sector-specific B2B matchmaking event in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province.

The event took place in one of China’s leading textile hubs, with focus on fostering joint ventures, trade, and investment opportunities between Pakistan’s top textile and apparel companies and major Chinese enterprises.

The matchmaking event featured an opening session, individual B2B meetings, and a closing session, providing ample networking opportunities for participants. Eleven prominent Pakistani companies, including Crescent Bahuman Ltd., Fazal Cloth Mills Ltd., Kohinoor Mills Ltd., and Nishat, engaged with 37 leading Chinese textile firms such as SUMEC Textile Co. Ltd., JD United, and Anhui Huamao Textile Co. Ltd. These interactions were aimed at discussing concrete proposals and exploring potential collaboration avenues.

Ambassador Khalil Hashmi highlighted the strategic advantages of investing in Pakistan’s textile sector, citing the country’s global market access, long-standing expertise, and vertically integrated supply chain. He also emphasized the preferential market access Pakistan enjoys through agreements like the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement (CPFTA), the EU’s GSP+ scheme, and the UK’s Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS). He encouraged businesses to seize the opportunities for partnerships in Pakistan’s growing textile industry.

Secretary of the Board of Investment, Rahim Hayat Qureshi, presented Pakistan’s robust investment policies and incentives tailored for the textile sector. He highlighted the country’s streamlined regulatory processes, tax benefits, and infrastructure support within Special Economic Zones (SEZs), making Pakistan an ideal destination for investment and innovation in textiles.

The event also showcased a success story from Mr. Omer Saeed of Servis Long March, who shared the achievements of his joint venture with a Chinese partner. Their partnership underscored the economic benefits of Pakistan-China collaborations, inspiring other participants to explore similar opportunities.

This event is part of a series of sector-specific initiatives led by Prime Minister to strengthen Pakistan’s industrial base and enhance economic relations with China, furthering the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. Participants agreed to continue communication and plan follow-up visits to build on the opportunities identified during the event
