ISLAMABAD – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said that the protest is still underway, strongly condemning the operation against peaceful protesters in Islamabad.
The KP CM said that the protesters were peaceful but they were attacked by the police and other law enforcement officials.
“I just ask the government to understand the gravity of the situation,” said CM Gandapur while addressing a press conference at the PTI’s Mansehra Secretariat. The KP CM said that peaceful protest was their right.
“Our workers were targeted. Straight firing was done on the PTI workers,” said the CM, making it clear that he would get the FIR lodged against those who attacked the PTI workers.
“I want to inform the whole country that PTI’s protest and sit-in is continuing. And it will continue till the further orders of Imran Khan,” said Gandapur. He said that the KP is a province and is demanding its rights.
Earlier in the day, Bushra Bibi and Ali Amin Gandapur reached Mansehra after the PTI protest faced grand operation in Islamabad last night.
The PTI official page on Facebook had said that Bushra Bibi would address the press conference along with CM Gandapur.
However, Bushra Bibi was not there along with the KP CM during the press conference. Omar Ayub and other party leaders, however, were present there.
Earlier, the government authorities launched a crackdown against the PTI protesters at D-Chowk and pushed them back to disperse from the scene.
Some reports emerged that Bushra Bibi and Ali Amin Gandapur were near Kulsoom Plaza in Islamabad’s Blue Area and as the operation commenced, both fled the location.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that the efforts are underway to detain Bushra Bibi and Ali Amin Gandapur.
