LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday fixed for hearing the petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI)  seeking permission for a rally in Lahore.

Justice Farooq Haider of the Lahore High Court will hear the petition filed by PTI leaders Aliya Hamza and Sheikh Imtiaz Mahmood.

The petition made the Punjab government and others as respondents.

The petition argued that PTI is the largest opposition party, and it has submitted several requests for holding rallies in Lahore.

However, PTI, it said, was not granted permission to hold the rally due to political reasons.

The petition further said that an application was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore on September 21, seeking permission for a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan, but the DC did not grant approval.

It emphasizes that holding rallies is a fundamental constitutional right of every political party.

The petition asked  the court to order the relevant authorities to allow PTI to hold the rally at Minar-e-Pakistan.
