Karachi, Hyderabad, Sindh weather update; significant rains expected

KARACHI – Intermittent rains with isolated heavy falls are expected in Karachi, Hyderabad and parts of Sindh on Monday night, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), depression lies over west of Madhya Pradsh (India) and surroundings and moving westwards. Due to this depression, strong monsoon currents penetrate southern parts of Pakistan and will likely penetrate upper parts from evening/night. A trough of westerly wave also prevails over upper parts of the country.

Under these weather conditions, intermittent rains are expected in Tharparkar, Nagarparkar, Islamkot, Mithi, Mirpur Khas, Umarkot, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Mityari, Sanghar, Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Khairpur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu and Naushahro Feroze on Monday night and the next two days. Heavy falls may also occur at few places during the period.

Heavy rains may generate flood/inundation in low-lying areas of Sindh. Flash flooding may occur in local nullahs/streams of Dadu.

Karachi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 35-37°C on Tuesday and 33-35°C on Wednesday.

Hyderabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 38-40°C on Tuesday and 37-39°C on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed is most districts of Sindh during the last 24 hours. However, isolated rain-wind/thundershowers occurred in lower Sindh.

In Karachi, maximum temperature was recorded at 36°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 78 per cent.

In Hyderabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 72 per cent.
