PESHAWAR– Heavy rains and gusty winds are expected in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday night, Wednesday and Thursday with occasional gaps.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate upper/central parts of Pakistan. A trough of westerly wave also prevails over upper/central parts of the country.
Under these weather conditions, rains and gusty winds are expected in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Haripur, Khyber, Peshawar, Kurum, Kohat, Kirk, Laki Marwat, Bannu, Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday night, Wednesday and Thursday. Heavy fall are also expected in Balakot, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Malakand, Dir, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Bajaur, Buner and Kurum during the period.
Heavy falls may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Galiyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Malakand, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kurrum, Orakzai, Khyber, Mohmand, Nowshera and Swabi. Urban flooding is also expected from tonight to 24th July. Landslides may disrupt traffic in vulnerable hilly areas.
Peshawar’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 37-39°C on Wednesday and 36-38°C on Thursday.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed in most districts of the province during the last 24 hours. However, isolated rains occurred in upper parts.

Peshawar remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 60 per cent.
