LAHORE – Various Punjab cities including Lahore experienced light to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms on Tuesday.
The rain provided much-needed relief from the intense heat.
In Lahore, the early morning rain brought smiles to the faces of residents who had been suffering from the scorching heat. The rain poured down on several areas including Abbott Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Shalimar, Garhi Shahu, Mall Road, Canal Road, Harbanspura, Sanda, and Islampura.
However, the downpour also caused disruptions in the power supply in many parts of the city.
Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Jhelum, Muridke, Gujranwala, Attock, and Wazirabad also received rain. It made the weather pleasantly cooler.
In response to the heavy rains, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued warnings of high-level flash flooding in the Narowal and Sialkot districts over the next three days.
The NDMA indicated that rain in the upper areas of Jammu could cause flooding in the streams of Narowal and Sialkot.
According to the NDMA, flash flooding may disrupt transportation and cause significant damage to buildings, crops and livestock in different areas.
The NDMA advised provincial disaster management authorities and local administrations to remain vigilant and take appropriate measures to protect at-risk populations.
The steps are being taken to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in vulnerable areas.
