TV show host Ayesha Jahanzeb, who suffered domestic violence, decided not to pursue legal action against her husband Haris Ali.

She denied reports of reconciliation, saying her choice was influenced by not wanting her children involved in court proceedings. The anchorperson will be filing for divorce and seek custody of her children.

Ayesha Jahanzeb turned down reports about reconciliation agreement, a development that raised concerns among her fans. She told the district court judge “Whatever happened was torture and should not happen to any woman.” Ayesha also mentioned that the agreement was finalised in the presence of witnesses. The court later granted bail to accused, who was held by Sarwar Road police station under sections 354 and 506B.

The assault case was registered on July 10, Haris was arrested on charges of torture after Ayesha filed a complaint. She claimed that she had been subjected to violence by her husband at least three times over the past year, suffering serious injuries as a result. This led her to seek legal action.

The FIR detailed that Ayesha had been tortured and injured by her husband. Responding to her complaint, the police swiftly arrested Haris and presented him before a judicial magistrate, who approved a two-day physical remand.

In the FIR, the TV show host claimed that her husband became abusive a few months after their marriage in 2015, but she endured his behavior to maintain their marriage. She said Haris continued assault even in front of their young daughters and recently subjected her to severe physical abuse.

She mentioned that her husband attacked her at their residence’s main gate in the presence of neighbors, who he also threatened with a weapon.

This was reportedly the fourth instance of physical abuse by her husband this year, and she had refrained from speaking out previously for her children’s safety.

Earlier, Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif took notice of the incident, and sought report from the Punjab IGP.
