ISLAMABAD  –  Imran Khan, the founder of PTI, on Wednesday submitted a written response to the Supreme Court against the intra-court appeal to nullify NAB amendments.

Imran Khan said that Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa should not hear his cases to ensure justice.

In his response, Imran Khan requested the dismissal of the intra-court appeals.

He stated that amending laws to save someone’s corruption doesn’t even happen in a banana republic, as corruption is destructive and has negative effects on the economy.

The former Prime Minister mentioned that during the hearing, Justice Athar Minallah said that the amendments would benefit him too. Imran Khan emphasized that his stance is clear: it’s not a personal matter but one concerning the country.

The PTI founder insisted that Parliament should legislate in accordance with the Constitution, and if NAB misuses its powers, amendments should be made only to prevent such misuse. He cited the example of the Toshakhana case against him as an instance of misuse of power by NAB.

He further claimed that NAB exaggerated the value of a necklace to Rs318 million to build a case against him, while its actual worth was Rs18 million.

Based on past judgments, Khan asked that the Chief Justice should not hear his cases to ensure justice.

Imran Khan remarked that past corrupt individuals have used laws and Parliament as their shield, and the amendments made to protect corruption erode public trust in the law. He added that the purpose of laws should be for the public, not for any single individual, and the Supreme Court should not turn a blind eye to the facts.
