Saeed Ghani unveils ambitious development plans for Karachi

Sindh Minister for Local Government, Housing, Town Planning, Public Health Engineering, and Rural Development, SaeedGhani has announced a comprehensive development package for Karachi, worth PKR 134 billion, aiming to revamp the city’s infrastructure, water supply, and sewage system. Minister SaeedGhani highlighted the government’s commitment to transforming Karachi into a modern metropolis.

The development package includes. Ghani said 1,137 schemes worth PKR 134 billion, focusing on infrastructure development, water supply, and sewage system improvement. PKR 448 billion allocated for the Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project, spanning four phases.

Completion of 347 illegal buildings demolished in the past three months, with a promise to register FIRs against builders involved in illegal constructions. Introduction of a new scheme, “Hub Canal,” worth PKR 12 billion, aiming to address water scarcity issues in the city.Allocation of PKR 76.8 billion for 985 ongoing schemes and PKR 35 billion for 551 local government schemes. Development of a youth center, cricket and football stadium, and gymnasium in the Bukhtari Youth Center.Upgradation of roads in District Central, Korangi, and other areas. Completion of the Korangi Causeway project within the next eight months.

The minister emphasized the government’s resolve to address Karachi’s long-standing issues, despite opposition claims of neglect. He also expressed pride in Karachi being Pakistan’s largest city and assured that the government would not abandon it.
