LAHORE – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique said on Tuesday that the 40-day physical remand law of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is regrettable and should be revoked.

Taking to X, previously known as Twitter, Khawaja Saad Rafique stated that various military rulers and judicial dictators have used it for shameful political purposes, causing many innocent people to suffer.

He said that the NAB law is a black law made by a dictator and could not be supported.

“The law of extending the physical remand from 14 days to 40 days is a regrettable act and should be withdrawn,” said Khawaja Saad Rafique.

He said suspicion legislation always remains inappropriate.

It may be mentioned here that the government amended the NAB Ordinance once again yesterday, under the NAB Amendment Ordinance, the remand of NAB was increased from 14 days to 40 days.

According to the NAB Amendment Ordinance, the punishment for making a case based on malice has been reduced from less than 5 years to 2 years, and according to the Election Act Amendment Ordinance, retired judges would also be present in the election tribunal in addition to serving judges.
