ISLAMABAD – Pakistani government is taking several initiatives to promote girls’ education, and in latest initiative, 20 buses will be dedicated to provide free transport service to female students and teachers in capital Islamabad.

Federal Ministry of Education announced a joint venture with district administration to introduce a fleet of 20 buses in federal capital.

The pink-themed buses will exclusively offer free transport services to female students and teachers, operating in both rural and urban areas of the city. The decision was made due to inadequate transportation options, especially for women and girls.

As of 2024, at least 30 percent of total 385 buses are out of service due to various reasons. To address this, the ministry plans to refurbish and put these buses back into service by mid-June.

After the required work, these buses will provide free transportation for female teachers and students, aiming to address their transportation challenges.
