Jordan Funeral Comes Under Fire Leaving Six Dead Scores Injured

AMMAN – A funeral gathering turned into scene of bloodshed in Jordan on Friday when gunmen opened fire at a church in Karak governorate, killing six people and injuring 28 others.

The shooting targeted mourners attending a funeral at Hamoud Church on October 23, triggering an urgent security response and a search for those responsible. Jordan’s Public Security Directorate confirmed the casualty figures, revising initial reports that had put the toll at seven dead and around 10 injured.

Early accounts said two armed men arrived in a vehicle, stepped out and opened fire on the gathering before fleeing. Conflicting reports emerged about whether they entered the church or fired at people around the building.
