Pakistani PM Sharif joins global leaders at WEF meeting in Saudi Arabia

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has landed in Saudi Arabia to attend in a special World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting focusing on ‘Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development,’ scheduled from April 28 to 29.

The premier embarked on Kingdom to attend meeting came from Kingdom’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and WEF Executive Chairman.

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and other officials are accompanying PM in Riyadh. They will engage in discussions on trade and investment measures, new investment frameworks, restructuring of supply chains, sustainable growth, and the energy landscape, as per a statement from the Foreign Office spokesperson.

Islamabad aims to highlight its priorities at the forum, including global health architecture, inclusive growth, revitalizing regional collaboration, and balancing growth with energy consumption.

Pakistani PM and his delegation will hold bilateral meetings with world leaders, including Saudi leadership, heads of international organizations, and other prominent figures attending the event.

Special Meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development is expected to host about 1,000 leaders from business, government, and academia. The meeting will focus on new strategies to stimulate global growth in the face of challenges posed by a fragmented geopolitical and economic environment.

WEF meeting themes include revitalizing global collaboration, promoting inclusive growth, and driving action on energy for development. It aims to bridge the growing North-South divide, particularly on issues such as emerging economic policies, the energy transition, and geopolitical shocks.
