Public Holiday announced on May 1 to mark Labour Day in Sindh

KARACHI – The government of Sindh on Friday declared May 1 as public holiday in the province on Labour Day.

A notification shared by Chief Secretary Sindh confirmed that there will be a public holiday for all government offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the administrative control of the Sindh government except essential services.

The federal government is yet to announce this year’s holiday. People are looking to wait for an official announcement.

For the unversed, Cabinet Division circular for this year includes May 1 as a public holiday. Punjab and other regions will formally holidays in schools and office in coming days.

Pakistan’s central bank is also expected to declare May 1 a bank holiday as well. International Labor Day, celebrated on May 1st worldwide, is a day to recognize the contributions of workers and advocate for their right.
