Elections 2024: Zardari in Lahore as Nawaz Sharif hints at forming coalition govt

LAHORE – Political bigwigs are in Punjab capital as the nation awaits election results that are delayed, sparking widespread gossip.

Experts familiar with the development said Zardari is slated to have a meeting with PML-N and PML-Q leaders to form the next government.

Top civil leaders are meeting despite PML-N and PPP leaders fired salvo at each other amid surprising results.

As Independents backed by Imran Khan’s party PTI secured a big chunk in Pakistan’s election after results from over half the constituencies were announced, the situation forced other political parties to form an alliance government.

Sharif looking to work together with rivals

The country’s three-time former Prime Minister called on all parties to sit together to work for larger betterment. Sharif said his party would start reaching out to other parties to form coalition.

Addressing his supporters, Nawaz said he respects mandate of all parties, calling on everyone to sit together, whether parties or individuals.

Sharif extended olive branch as 201 out of 265 results from the NA were announced by ECP. So far, PMLN turns out as largest party with 59 seats while independents gained 86 seats.

The former premier also felicitated party workers on emerging as the biggest party after polls.
