The High Court of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has dismissed a plea by Syed Rehman Shams, one of the twelve Hurriyat leaders and activists arrested in connection with ‘Eid Milan’ last year, challenging dismissal of his bail application by Indian National Investigation Agency court in Srinagar last year.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Syed Rehman Shams, an aide of senior APHC leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in his plea claimed that he was a “re-ligious scholar” and had, on invitation, attended the Eid Milan where other persons were “incidentally” present.
“The Trial Court did not go through the evidence and the material collected by the investigation agency to find out whether the prima-facie case against the appellant was made out or not,” he said while challenging order of Special Judge designated passed on 25 September 2023 under NIA Act in Srinagar whereby his bail application was dismissed.
However, the division bench of Justices Sanjeev Kumar and Javed Iqbal Wani dismissed his plea.
