Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice-president Sher Afzal Marwat blasted the authorities on Wednesday, calling the re-arrest of former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi “regrettable” and vowing that the people would “take revenge for everything” on February 8th. Marwat’s fiery remarks came outside the Islamabad High Court, where he denounced the district administration’s refusal to grant permission for a PTI rally in the capital. He pointed out that the party had filed a formal application but was facing unwarranted hurdles.

Adding to the party’s grievances, Marwat alleged that “unrelated staff members” were interfering with Qureshi’s ongoing trial at Adiala Jail. He accused the jail administration of violating both the constitution and the law by impeding the PTI’s legal team from entering with necessary documents. The PTI leader further expressed outrage over the “very sad” video of Qureshi’s re-arrest, questioning the courts’ silence amidst what he called a blatant “era of lawlessness.”—INNP
