Political experts and analysts based in Srinagar have said that Jammu and Kashmir is not India’s internal matter but has been an internationally-recognized disputed territory on the UN Security Council’s agenda for the last over seven decades.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the political experts and analysts in their interviews and statements said the Indian Supreme Court’s biased and one-sided verdict can’t change the fact that New Delhi remains in occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. They said the Indian judiciary has always acted as a tool to validate India’s illegal occupation over Jammu and Kashmir. They added that the Indian apex court has no right to decide the legal status of the internationally-recognized disputed territory.

The political experts and analysts maintained that the Modi regime’s 5 August 2019 move and subsequent actions are in brazen violation of UN resolutions. They deplored that India is completely disregarding the Kashmiris’ right to decide their future as per the UN resolutions and relying on blatant lies to divert the international community’s attention from the human rights violations being perpetrated by its troops in IIOJK.

The political experts and analysts pointed out that India’s denial of right to self-determination to the Kashmiris is the main reason of the Kashmir dispute. They said the final settlement of the dispute lies in UN resolutions, which call for holding of plebiscite under the auspices of the World Body.

The political experts and analysts noted that the world community’s silence has emboldened India to pursue its hegemonic ambitions in South Asia. They said the UN must fulfill its responsibilities regarding Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.—KMS
