Department of Human Rights & Minority Affairs Punjab with the collaboration of Unique Group of Institutions has organised a seminar regarding prevention of dengue to create awareness among students at Head Office of UGC on Tuesday.
Provincial Minister for HR&MA Ijaz Alam Augustine graced the occasion as the chief guest while HR&MA Secretary Dr Irshad Ahmed, DS M Yousaf along with other officials of the department attended the seminar. Director of UGI Professor Amjad Ali Khan welcomed all the participants.
Coordinator of the Dengue Control Programme Dr Mohammad Amir Aslam briefed in details about prevention and control on dengue. The seminar also featured a photo-based documentary regarding the causes and control of dengue. Provincial minister Ijaz Alam Augustine paid tribute to the administration of UGI to conduct a seminar with collaboration to aware the students.
He said that Punjab government has taken many steps to control the dengue and no doubt all the departments have been doing very well, especially the role of the Health Department was praiseworthy in this regard. The minister said that awareness played a key role in the fight against dengue because prevention is far better than cure.
He stressed the need for collective as well as individual efforts along with the collaboration of all stakeholders of the state for the awareness, implementation and control the epidemic of dengue from the country.
Secretary Dr Irshad Ahmed said that strong determination could defeat dengue fever, Department of HR&MA was making efforts to raise awareness among the public regarding dengue. He further said that cleanliness is declared half faith in our dear religion while prevention is the simplest way to protect from any disease.
Other speakers also recommended various preventive measures against the dengue mosquitoes and stressed on collective preventive measures against the dengue menace. They urged the UGC employees and students to ensure the cleanliness of the campus and homes.
Teachers, Students, representatives of society and officials of HR&MA department attended the seminar while certificate distributed among the guests at the end of the seminar.
