Three remaining Pakistani crew members of MT Honour 25, the oil tanker hijacked off Somalia in April, arrived in Karachi on Wednesday.
Ansar Burney Trust Vice Chairperson Shaheen Burney said the sailors landed at Jinnah International Airport at 4:40 pm on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa.
Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi received the crew members at the airport and expressed solidarity with them, saying the government would provide all possible support to the affected families.
Hashmi said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had taken notice of the incident and directed authorities to assist the families, particularly with their children’s education, healthcare and future.
The tanker, carrying 19 crew members including 10 Pakistanis, was recovered by maritime forces in Somalia’s Puntland region in late September.
Five crew members were killed during the operation, including three Pakistanis. Four injured Pakistani sailors and the remains of three others returned to Karachi on Sunday.
