Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari, responding to claims and propaganda by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf regarding the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” (ACAG) programme, presented live videos of families who have received homes under the initiative.
Azma Bokhari said, “Enough ignorance has been displayed; now let the reality be seen as well.” She said these were families for whom the dream of owning a home had become a reality, with no political party’s plaque attached to it. The Punjab Information Minister questioned: “If these were merely homes constructed during the PTI’s tenure, then who issued 214,302 interest-free loans?” Azma Bokhari further questioned who provided more than Rs278.46 billion in interest-free loans, how 120,753 homes had been completed, and how 60,464 homes were still under construction. She said attempts to portray people’s homes as the political property of a particular party might work on social media, but the testimony of the actual deserving families living in those homes could not be denied. Azma Bokhari said, “This is not the politics of plaques; it is a practical programme to provide people with a roof of their own.” The Punjab Information Minister said those with no performance to showcase resort to creating stories about homes built by others. She said propaganda could be spread as much as desired, but a home ultimately remains a home.
