13,000 electricity thieves arrested

Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has intensified its anti-electricity theft campaign, arresting over 13,000 suspects in just 76 days. The company has also registered FIRs (First Information Reports) on 27,877 electricity theft cases.

According to a LESCO spokesperson on Thursday, the total number of electricity theft suspects identified so far has reached 29,244. These suspects have been charged with stealing over 5 crore 16 lakh 78 thousand 581 units of electricity, amounting to a monetary loss of Rs. 2 billion 7 crore 7 lakh 20 thousand 552.

In yesterday’s operation alone, LESCO imposed fines totaling Rs. 400,000 on illegal connections in Shahdara Town, Jayamosi, Qasim Park, and Stokatla areas. Additionally, 286 illegal connections were disconnected across the region, and 4 lakh 49 thousand 434 units of electricity were charged under the detection bill, amounting to Rs. 2 crore 2 lakh 50 thousand 467.

LESCO’s anti-electricity theft campaign has been ongoing for several months, and the company has made significant progress in curbing this illegal activity.

The company’s efforts have resulted in increased revenue for LESCO and improved power supply for its customers.
