CM Punjab visits under-construction emergency block at Mayo Hospital

Chief Minister Punjab MohsinNaqvi conducted a visit to the under-construction emergency block at Mayo Hospital, approving the progress of the ongoing upgradation works. The Chief Minister also toured the Maqbool Ahmed Block of King Edward Medical University, commending the facilities provided in the block.

It is noteworthy that Dr. Maqbool Ahmed, a King Edward Medical University graduate, has personally invested 2 billion rupees to construct the Maqbool Ahmed Block. Chief Minister MohsinNaqvi lauded Maqbool Ahmed’s efforts for this construction and expressed his intention to recommend Dr. Maqbool Ahmed for a civil award.

During the visit, Chief Minister MohsinNaqvi assessed the various sectors within Maqbool Ahmed Block, praising the quality of construction. He also inspected the auditorium of Maqbool Ahmed Block, which houses various core departments of King Edward Medical University.

Turning his attention to the ongoing construction activities in the emergency block of Mayo Hospital, Chief Minister MohsinNaqvi scrutinized the quality of the tiles. He directed the team to ensure quality work in the installation of central air conditioning. Identifying seams on the outer wall and reception walls, he instructed for a permanent solution to address these issues.

Emphasizing the completion of ongoing upgradation activities promptly, Chief Minister MohsinNaqvi urged for round-the-clock efforts. The old emergency block is undergoing transformation into a state-of-the-art facility with approximately 210 beds, set to open in 45 days.

Inspecting medical equipment, beds, tables, wheelchairs, and benches distributed across Punjab, Chief Minister MohsinNaqvi ensured the quality of these resources.

The Secretary Communication and Works and the Secretary of Health provided a briefing on the construction works related to the Emergency Block’s upgradation.

Provincial Minister of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Dr. JavedAkram, Vice Chancellor of King Edward Medical University, the Chief Executive Officer of Mayo Hospital, and relevant officials were also present during this visit.
