The All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader, Mu-hammad Yousuf Naqash, has termed the continued ban on Muharram processions by the authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir as interference in the religious affairs of the Muslims.
Muhammad Yousuf Naqash in a statement isued in Srinagar said, “Love for the martyrs of Karbala is an integral part of our faith. The ban on Muharram processions represents an unacceptable interference in religious matters.” He pointed out that the Modi regime, backed by the Sangh Parivar, poses an open challenge to the Kashmiri Muslims. He said the battle of Karbala teaches us to stand strong against the contemporary Yazids, and if Modi is unaware of this, he needs to learn from Muslim history.
Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Youth Forum, Umairul Islam, in a statement issued in Srinagar, strongly denounced the continued illegal detention of APHC Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, and other Hurriyat leaders and activists including Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Khan, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, and Pir Saifullah. He appealed to the UN and international human rights organizations to play their role in the release of the Kashmiri detainees.—KMS
