Print, electronic and social media journalists from different media organizations at an interactive media training were briefed about the increasing violent extremism in the society and how a wider mass mobilization campaign by media can save the country from further radicalization by enhancing societal resilience. The training workshop was organized by Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) here under the auspices of the Institute’s Community Resilience Research Network (CRRN). The participants were also given a detailed briefing on the research findings earlier conducted by SDPI and encouraged journalists to report on these findings to create awareness among the general citizenry. In his welcome remarks, SDPI Editor (Research) Saleem Khilji said that SDPI is an independent research tank of the country and is engaged in various issues from Economy to Climate Change to Resilient Development. Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) is the part of it.

He said the rising trend of violent extremism in Pakistan is because of successive governments’ flawed policies and practices and options of using force to curb the menace of terrorism.
