PTI seeks date for dissolution of NA before budget

The government and the opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will hold the “final” round of talks on May 2 (Tuesday) after the former ruled out the possibility of a deadlock between the sides.

Following the second round of talks, held on Friday, the both sides decided to consult with their top leadership and allies over the proposals presented during the meeting.

Both delegations were hopeful of concluding on Tuesday, but PTI warned that the talks could “derail” at any point if the law enforcers keep arresting its workers.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf delegation sought the date for the dissolution of the National Assembly before the budget during the second round of talks with the federal government.

As per Khan’s directives, PTI sought the date of NA dissolution from the federal government before the budget. Moreover, the delegation also rejected the government’s plan to conduct general elections in October.

Sources closer to PTI said that the political tensions can be reduced if the government gives a date for NA dissolution. They added that PTI wants significant progress in talks with the government before the next hearing in the Supreme Court.
