LAHORE – The Lahore High Court on Friday approved an extension in protective bail of former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan in five different cases.

The two-member bench of the Lahore High Court extended the protective bail of the PTI chief in cases relevant to vandalism at the Islamabad Judicial Complex.

Khan, who is nowadays pushing the rhetoric of his assassination, arrived at court in tight security, with his supporters and private security guards escorting the PTI chief to court premises.

Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh and Justice Anwaar Hussain took up Imran Khan’s plea to grant him bail.

At the outset of Friday’s hearing, the counsel of the former premier apprised the court that his client was seeking protective bail to go to the capital where several cases of political nature were lodged against him.

Expressing his views, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh remarked that the petitioner should have approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for bail in different cases. Khan’s counsel then requested the court to extend the bail till Monday so they can reach the federal capital.

PTI chief also told the court that he went to the capital but lamented the government’s action, saying all roads were blocked by capital law enforcers, saying he even arrived at Lahore High Court secretly.

The firebrand politician told the court that Islamabad police used tear gas and assaulted his supporters, saying he had to move in haste from the judicial complex to save his life amid riots.

This is a developing story, and will be updated later…
