QUETTA – The Balochistan High Court on Friday ordered the suspension of Imran Khan’s arrest warrants over his fiery speech against state institutions and officers.

Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Chief moved Balochistan High Court against the case registered in Quetta. In his petition, the counsel maintained that the case against the former premier has been registered illegally, urging the court to suspend the arrest warrants and case.

Judge Zaheer-Ud-Din Kakar of BHC conducted the hearing and suspended the arrest warrants after listening to the arguments. The hearing has been adjourned for a period of two weeks.

Earlier this week, a local of the court of the country’s southwestern region issued arrest warrants for the outspoken politician and directed the cops to arrest the populist leader and present him before the court.

A team of Balochistan police arrived in Lahore while PTI leaders remained active to block the arrest of party chief. The former ruling party issued several red alerts for activists to reach Zaman Park to avert off arrest.

Last week, capital police arrived Imran Khan’s residence but could not arrest him as hundreds of charged workers threatened cops to return.

Khan, 70, is facing arrest in scores of cases and now police from Balochistan arrived in the metropolitan where the defiant leader has been staying after the assassination attempt.

Balochistan cops registered a case against Imran Khan for alleged hate speech against state institutions. In the FIR, the complainant maintained that Islamabad police reached Zaman Park to arrest the PTI chief but he dodged his arrest and later addressed his workers through a video link in which he incited masses to revolt against institutions.

It maintained that the former premier hurled baseless allegations against the chiefs of sensitive institutions putting national security at stake. It accused him of creating unrest in the country.

The words of outspoken politicians damaged the prestige of institutions, it added.
