One killed, six injured in Ramban landslide

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a man was killed and at least six others were injured after a massive landslide hit several vehicles on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Ramban district of Jammu region, today.

An official that said a massive landslide occurred near Seri area today, burying two vehicles under the debris.

He said in the incident one person died while six others sustained injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The official said more people might be trapped under debris even as rescue operation was going on in the area.

The deceased was identified as Surjeet Singh.

As per reports, a car was buried under the debris while another rolled down a gorge after the landslide. An excavator of a construction company was also trapped in the debris.

Meanwhile, the Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only surface link of the Kashmir Valley to the outside world, was closed for traffic as a precautionary measure.—KMS
