Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finally completed constituting the selection committee for the men’s cricket team headed by Haroon Rasheed.
Rasheed, who was recently named chair of the selecting panel, will be assisted by former internationals Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Sami and Yasir Hameed.
Akmal, meanwhile, was also named the chair of the U19 selection panel which added the names of Tauseef Ahmed, Arshad Khan, Shahid Nazir and Shoaib Khan.
PCB head Najam Sethi offered his felicitations to the selected members
“These selection committees comprise individuals who have served Pakistan cricket for decades and understand the demands of the modern game. I am sure that their selections will be based on merit and help us attain the mission of taking Pakistan cricket to newer heights.”
Appointing a selection committee had become a recent headache for PCB after the board’s new management committee decided to sack Mohammad Wasim from the role after taking over.
The burden then fell to Shahid Afridi who decided to leave his interim post after a brief stint to focus on his charitable efforts.
PCB then finally turned to Haroon Rasheed who previously served the same role in 2015 and 2016 before completing adding final members.
Akmal, Sami and Hameed are all decorated cricketing veterans of Pakistan.
Kamran Akmal appeared in 53 Tests, 157 ODIs and 58 T20Is for his county between 2002 and 2017 while Sami played 136 matches across the three formats for Pakistan picking up 227 wickets.
Hameed also donned Pakistan’s colours 80 times scoring over 3,500 runs.
