Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf while taking up a Calling Attention notice directed the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training to resolve the long-pending issue of 300 deputationist teachers working in various schools of the Federal Directorate of Education for the last many years.

The speaker’s direction came after a debate by the Members of the National Assembly who drew the attention of the house that the FDE was showing little interest in making these teachers permanent which was their legal right.

The Calling Attention notice was raised by MNA Alia Kamran and supported by Qadir Khan Mandokhail and Tahira Aurangzeb who expressed their surprise and regret that these teachers despite serving for several years were being denied legal right of absorption in the FDE that allows 10 pc annual quota to such teachers.

Speaker NA while addressing Parliamentary Secretary on Federal Education Zeb Jaffer said it was a very serious matter as these teachers have been protesting for last couple of years against their repatriation.

Zeb Jaffer assured the House the government was taking the issue head on and earlier in the morning of the same day, Federal Minister Rana Tanveer had directed the Secretary Education to cancel all the repatriation orders of these teachers and restore thir perks and privileges, she said.

Mandokhail earlier said there were only 300 teachers in the schools and they hailed from all the four provinces, AJK and Gigit Baltistan. Some of them have even secured No Objection Certificates from their patent departments. Now the FDE is asking them to return to their parent departments wherefrom they have already been relieved.

MNA Tahira Aurangzeb viewed that for the peace of mind of these teachers it was important not to disturb them.

How will they concentrate on their job if we do not provide them adequate financial and mental relief. She also called to urgently absorb these teachers.

Later, Speaker of the National Assembly referred the matter to the standing committee for further process.
