Chairman of the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Dr Yousuf Khushk was conferred with an award by the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature, National Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences for his efforts to promote literature and establish literary ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
Prof Dr Yousuf Khushk was given ‘Honorary Friend’ award by the Nizami Ganjavi institute of Literature. Dr Khushk who is on a private visit to Baku, Azerbaijan’s capital, attended a reception that turned into a gathering of Pakistan-Azerbaijan eminent literary persons at the library of the National Academy of Sciences.
Besides conferring of award, three books on Pakistan and Pakistani literature and a magazine were also launched on the occasion. Vice President of the National Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences Professor Isa Habibbeyli while giving away the award to the PAL Chairman said the award was a testimony of Dr Khushk’s literary services and his efforts to bring closer both Azerbaijan and Pakistan literary community. We acknowledge his support for the development of Azerbaijan -Pakistan scientific relationships and services in the development of literature studies at Azerbaijan , Professor Habibbeyli said.
Dr Khushk paid vote of thanks to Azerbaijan Academy hosts , renowned writers intellectuals for conferring this honour.
He said that the literature and writers in every country, regardless of language, were an asset to the world. In my opinion, for human solidarity and world peace, there is a need for time to have relations between writers at the global level, he said. At the end of the event souvenirs were also presented by both sides.
