OGDCL, Al-Shifa Eye Trust Hospital hold free camp

Oil and Gas Development Company Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility programme and Al-Shifa Eye Trust Hospital organized a three-day free eye camp here in Zhob. Thousands of patients suffering from eye ailment benefited from the camp.

Assistant Commissioner Jarullah Jalalzai flanked by Regional Director OGDCL Ikramullah Kasi, Administrator Al- Shifa Eye Trust Hospital Sukkur Major (R) Munir Ahmad, Captain Hamza of Army Medical Corps, Khateeb Jama Masjid Maulana Allah Kakar, MS Dr Noor-ul-Haq and Dr Sheikh Zarak Khan Mandokhail inaugurated the camp.

Prominent ophthalmologist and surgeons participated in the three-day free medical and surgical camp and thousands of patients from far-off areas were not only examined free of cost, but also received free medicines, glasses, lenses and cataract surgeries as well.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, AC Jalalzai said that the district administration would extend all possible support to them to make the camp a success. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ramzan Palal and Commandant Zhob Militia also visited the camp and inspected the facilities being provided to the patients.

Regional Director OGDCL Ikramullah Kasi said that OGDCL in collaboration with Al-Shifa Eye Trust Hospital has organized free eye camps in 12 districts of Balochistan, with the aim to provide free eye care services to the poor and needy patients at their doorstep.

Administrator Major (R) Munir Ahmed said that besides free examination of patients in the camp, cataract operations were also performed. Those patients who cannot afford to get treated in other districts have fully taken advantage of the free camp.

Meanwhile, people of the area have appreciated OGDCL’s generous contribution under its CSR initiative for the under privilege communities in Balochistan and thanked the management of ODGCL and Al- Shifa Eye Trust Hospital for their efforts on humanitarian grounds. They expressed hope that more free camps should also be organized in the remote areas of Balochistan in future, so that the needy and deserving patients of the province could benefit from them.

According to the OPD data, 2003 patients have been screened and provided free medicines and glasses, while 227 cataract surgeries have also been carried out during the three days.
