Health care workers deserve to be recognized for lifesaving efforts: Misbah

International Nurses Day is being celebrated around the world every May 12, on the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s. ICN commemorates this important day each year with the production and distribution of the International Nurses’ Day (IND) resources and evidence. Saida Waheed FMH College of Nursing organized an awareness walk on International Nurses Day at Fatima Memorial Hospital. The theme for the 2022 resource is Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Invest in Nursing and respect rights to secure global health.

Ms. Misbah Zafar-Director Academic Nursing, Nursing Lecturers from Saida Waheed FMH College of Nursing and Assistant Director Clinical Nursing Ms. Anjum Saleemi along with clinical nurse managers and nursing staff arranged the walk jointly. Prof. Dr. Zahid Mohyuddin Medical Director FMH, Dr. Farhan Feroz Medical Superintendent FMH, Prof. Dr. Tayyab Abbas Principal FMH College of Medicine, and other officials from FMH participated in awareness walk.

Prof. Dr. Tayyab Abbas(Principal FMH College of Medicine& Dentistry) said that Nurses are the world’s life-savers. They are risking their own health and too often sacrificing time with their family to help those suffering from COVID-19. The safety of health care workers during this pandemic is crucial for communities to overcome the disease. They not only save people from COVID-19, they also ensure the continuity of life saving health services to protect people from accidents and other illnesses.

Ms. Misbah Zafar (Director Academic Nursing) shared her views that our Nurses are the backbone of the medical profession. Moreover, she shared that Nurses and other health care workers deserve to be recognized and commended for their lifesaving efforts. A Cake cutting ceremony regarding Nurses Day was held in the auditorium after the walk.

Prof. Dr. ZahidMohyuddin, Prof. Dr. Tayyab Abbas, Dr. FarhanFeroz and Ms. Misbah Zafar addressed the audience and appreciated the efforts of nurses for the advancement of profession Best employee award was given to Mr. AnjumSohail (Male Nurse) from (High Dependency Unit) Medicine department. After the program, all seniors visited the wards of FMH that were decorated by the nurses. Certificates were awarded to the best ward and employee of the month.
