In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has expressed grave concern over the miserable plight of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists languishing in hell-like jails of the territory and India.

The APHC in a statement issued in Srinagar said due to the non-availability of basic facilities including medical care at the jails, most of the incarcerated Hurriyat leaders and activists have developed various ailments. It said inhuman behaviour of the Indian authorities has endangered the life of the Kashmiri detainees amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The APHC appealed to the United Nations Human Rights Council, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, International Committee of Red Cross and other human rights bodies to take cognizance of the plight of Kashmiri prisoners and play role in their release.

Meanwhile, APHC leader, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, in a statement issued in Srinagar said that unresolved Kashmir dispute was the main cause of tension between Pakistan and India and its amicable settlement could bring permanent peace and prosperity in the region. He said that Indian troops were killing innocent people in the occupied territory on daily basis and appealed to the UN and world powers to help stop Indian atrocities in IIOJK and put pressure on India to resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute according to the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

A meeting of the refugees’ representatives to deliberate upon the deteriorating situation in IIOJK was organized under the aegis of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir in Muzaffarabad, today. The participants of the meeting reaffirmed the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue the struggle for freedom from Indian yoke till complete success.

Speakers on the occasion strongly condemned India’s actions to convert Muslim majority into a minority in IIOJK and called for a free, fair and impartial referendum in Jammu and Kashmir to allow the Kashmiris to decide their fate by themselves.
