In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, unrelenting military siege imposed by Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government on August 05, 2019, continues to take a heavy toll on daily life of the Kashmiri people in the occupied territory.
Indian troops martyred 538 Kashmiris including a dozen women during the period. Most of the vic-tims were killed by the troops in fake encounters under the garb of so-called cordon and search opera-tions. Youth are picked up from their homes during the operations and are eliminated after being labeled as mujahideen or over-ground workers of the ongo-ing freedom struggle. The killing by the troops ren-dered 33 women widowed and 82 children orphaned during the period.
The report maintained that over 17 thousand people including APHC leaders, activists, youth, students and women leaders were arrested under different black laws while 2189 people were criti-cally injured due to the use of brute force, bullets, pellets and teargas shelling by the Indian troops on peaceful demonstrators and mourners in the occu-pied territory. The troops damaged over 1000 houses and structures and molested or disgraced 117 women since then.
The most of the killings took place under the Indian army’s Badamibagh Rashtriya Rifles Victor force and non-Kashmiri and Indian Hindutva mind-set police officer Vijay Kumar who in 2019 took as Inspector General of police Kashmir zone.—KMS
