BARA – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police intensified crackdown in Bara after violent unrest, damage to public property and attack on Rescue 1122 office, with more than 50 people reportedly arrested and cases registered under anti-terrorism provisions.
The arrests came after clashes and incidents of vandalism in Bara Chowk, where individuals allegedly led by Abdul Ghani Afridi, Iqbal Afridi and Shahid Khattak were accused of attempting to spread unrest and damage government and public property.
Police moved to control the situation and apprehended more than 50 suspects as authorities stepped up efforts to identify others allegedly involved in the violence.

Sources claim that KP police officials are preparing for further raids and arrests late tonight, targeting individuals allegedly involved in the unrest and the reported storming and vandalism of the Rescue 1122 office.
Reports of a broader crackdown have also emerged, with prisoner transport vans reportedly being dispatched from Peshawar to Bara. However, these developments have not been officially confirmed by the authorities. The prospect of additional arrests has reportedly triggered concern among some PTI workers as law enforcement agencies continue their operations in the area.
According to reports, Abdul Ghani Afridi, Iqbal Afridi and Shahid Khattak fled during police operation. Their alleged involvement and current whereabouts have not been independently verified.
Reports have also claimed that a significant number of those arrested are Afghan nationals allegedly residing in Pakistan illegally. The claim has not been independently confirmed, and no official breakdown of the detainees’ nationalities was provided.
The registration of cases under anti-terrorism provisions signals a serious legal dimension to the crackdown. The allegations relate to unrest, damage to public property and the reported attack on the Rescue 1122 facility.
Authorities have reiterated that attempts to challenge the writ of the state, damage public property or disrupt law and order will not be tolerated, adding that action against those found responsible will proceed in accordance with the law.
With further raids reportedly under consideration, Bara remains under heightened scrutiny as police pursue suspects linked to the unrest.
