Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Sukkur office, in cooperation with the Shikarpur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), organized an awareness seminar on export potential of Pickles, at Shikarpur.
The officers of TDAP Sukkur informed the attendees about the modern dynamics of international trade and the digitization of the Businesses after the pandemic of Covid-19. Further, the officers of TDAP Sukkur also encouraged the participants to improve their production and processing means up-to the standards of international import markets.
The stakeholders of the Shikarpur Chamber of Commerce shared that Shikarpur annually produces about 40,000- 50,000 M. tons of pickles which is sold in local/national markets of Pakistan and some volume of the products is traded to the neighboring countries.
The participants said that if government supports the manufacturers of pickles to upgrade their production, processing and promotion techniques- the sector can bring manifold changes for the development of economy and exports.
The audiences liked the initiative of TDAP of awareness in all Pakistan and especially in the small and less developed cities like that of Shikarpur. The stakeholders requested TDAP for organization of such more seminars in collaboration/ presence of other concerned departments like State Bank, Tax departments, SECP, Sindh Food Authority and the departments of Investments that the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of Pickles may seek guidance like one window form these departments which work for the development of economy of the country.
On the conclusion of the seminar, the Shikarpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) assured TDAP for the establishment of a working group of Pickle traders who shall have a close liaison with TDAP Sukkur for their sectorial development. The participants thanked TDAP and Shikarpur Chamber for the organization of such an informative Seminar.
