The University of Okara’s Department of Educa-tional Research and Assessment (DERA) organized a seminar on ‘Technology & Modern Education’ with Prof Dr Nasir Mahmood, Dean Faculty of Education from Allama Iqbal Open University delivering a special lecture on the use of modern information and communication technologies for education and professional training of the students.

In the opening session of the seminar, Dr Tahir Khan Farooqi, Chairman DERA, highlighted the importance of aligning the current education system with the latest and contemporary trends of the world and preparing students for the challenges of the global job market

Dr Mahmood discussed in detail the evolution of education over the years and its current dynamics. He argued that the educational institutions needed to make students compatible with the technologically advanced future.

“On digital media, there is available a bulk of in-formation but students should be taught to filter out and make sense of that excessive information. The future research in our universities should be focus on finding out the ways and means of the effective use of technology,” said the guest speaker.
