The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir, Ambassador Yousef Aldobeay, has reiterated the OIC’s support to the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
A report released by Kashmir Media Service, on Wednesday, OIC’s Special Envoy, who along with a delegation is on 5-day visit to Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, will interact with a cross-section of people from Kashmiri society during his stay in Pakistan.
The report said that the Muslim bloc’s representative told APHC-AJK delegation in Islamabad that the OIC will continue to extend its support for the Kashmir cause.
During the meeting, the Hurriyat leaders said that the OIC should step up its efforts for settlement of the Kashmir dispute to mitigate the sufferings at the hands of Indian troops in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
he report said, Pakistan visit has provided the OIC Envoy an opportunity to know the ground realities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and situation along the Line of Control (LoC). The visit will reinforce the centrality of a just settlement of the Kashmir dispute, it added.
The report said that the OIC has time and again pledged its support to the Kashmir cause. “OIC has passed a number of resolutions condemning Indian atrocities against the Kashmiris.
The Muslim representative body is constantly issuing statements supportive of UN resolutions on Kashmir much to India’s dismay,” it said.
The report said, Pakistan has always played leading role to convene meetings of OIC Contact group on Jammu and Kashmir.
It said, Pakistan and the Kashmiris greatly value the OIC’s principled and steadfast stance on the Kashmir dispute The report maintained that the Kashmir movement is a legitimate struggle for realization of Kashmiris’ rights and the OIC must redouble its efforts to help the struggling Kashmiris get freedom from Indian yoke.—KMS
