Says steps being taken on war footings to provide relief to public

Amraiz Khan

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar has said that no one should politicize the issues of national security. “Compromise on protection of national security and sovereignty is out of question.”

Prime Minister Imran Khan is pursuing a policy of making Pakistan strong and prosperous in line with the vision of Quaid-i-Azam and Allama Iqbal.

He was talking to media on Tuesday after laying a floral wreath on the mausoleum of Poet of East Allama Iqbal.

Khateeb of Badshahi Mosque Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad and Provincial Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal were also present.

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar while answering the questions of the journalists said that inflation is a big challenge for the government and the federal and Punjab governments are working to deal with it, adding that steps will be taken to give relief to the masses and solve their problems including inflation and unemployment.

Replying to a question regarding protest of opposition parties against the government, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar said that the opposition should reconsider its policies instead of marching on the streets against the government, adding that the opposition parties are themselves confused.

He said that there are too many narratives within the opposition parties and neither have they been united before nor will they in future.

Governor Punjab said that despite the obstacles of the opposition on the issue of electoral reforms, the government will succeed in enacting legislation on other important issues including electoral reforms in the next few days in joint session of the parliament.

He said that giving the right to vote to overseas Pakistani is the mission of the government in which it will succeed, and it will strengthen the democracy and parliament in Pakistan.

Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar while paying homage to Hakimul-Umat, Allama Mohammad Iqbal, said that the teachings of Allama Iqbal became the basis of the concept of Pakistan; his philosophy of Khudi (Self) is a beacon for all humanity.

He stressed that the need to understand the message and philosophy of Allama Iqbal was greater than ever before today.

Dr. Allama Iqbal will always be remembered for presenting the concept of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent, he added. He said Allama Iqbal’s poetry and teachings help us to understand the true message of Islam.

Punjab Governor said that Allama Iqbal awakened the Muslims from their slumber and that is why we are breathing in a free country today.
