A farmers convention was organized at Islamia University Bahawalpur in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture and Fatima Group for timely and better cultivation of wheat in Punjab.

Addressing the convention, Provincial Minister for Agriculture Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardezi said that we have been organizing city-to-city farmers’ conventions all over the Punjab.

We want to increase the average agriculture productivity of our province. Last year we tried and brought the average yield to 31 and a half.

This year we are trying to increase the average production by two to three monds. To achieve this goal, farmers will have to follow the recommendations of the Department of Agriculture.

The Department of Agriculture stands by the side of the farmers. Our Punjab farmer is very hardworking and is not afraid of the cold of winter and the heat of June and July.

To improve the average yield in Punjab, the government decided to take Agriculture Department officials with visit to every district of the province.

He said that Bahawalpur division is ahead in many crops. And Insha’allah, wheat production in Bahawalpur division will be higher this year as compared to other divisions.

On this occasion, Director General Agriculture Extension Punjab Dr. Anjum Ali Butter said that the purpose of our gathering here is to discuss the wheat crop. Last year, Punjab produced 21 million tons of wheat.
