A land mine explosion in the Bajaur tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the night between Wednesday and Thursday resulted in the martyrdom of at least four security personnel.
According to reports the vehicle of the security forces carrying Frontier Corps and Police men hit the improvised explosive device in Dibarai area of the Bajaur agency during the clearance operation on Wednesday late night.
“The security forces vehicle was conducting clearance operation against the terrorists in the region when it ran over an Improvised Explosive Device leaving four men in uniform martyred,” Inter Services Public Relations Communiqué issued on Thursday said.
Those martyred include FC men Lance Naik Makassar and Sepoy Jamshed while the martyred Policemen were identified as Abdul Samad and Noor Rehman.
In the meanwhile Counter Terrorism Department Peshawar and the Police force on Thursday wee hours mowed down as many as three suspected terrorists which the Police claimed belonged to Daesh-Khorasan group of Afghanistan chapter.
However, as the Police put three other accomplices of the militants managed to escape during the nighttime operation taking advantage of the dark.
Reports said the CTD and police launched a joint operation in Peshawar’s Shahpur area over a tip-off about the presence of terrorists adding the militants seeing the men in uniform opened fire at the law enforcement personnel when they arrived at the troubled spot.
“Three of the terrorists were shot dead in retaliatory fire by the CTD and police,” the CTD authorities said adding other accomplices of the terrorists fled from the scene.
The officials said they seized three SMGs, grenades and other ammunition from the possession of the militants.
