Pending pleas against Musharraf, Zardari and Gillani LHC dismisses petitions as ineffective

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday dismissed pleas to hear pending cases against former presidents Pervez Musharraf, Asif Ali Zardari and ex-PM Yousaf Raza Gilani as ineffective.

A three-member bench of the Lahore High Court comprising Chief Justice Muhammad Amir Bhatti, Justice Shujaat Ali Khan and Justice Ayesha A Malik heard the case.

Earlier, Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad had excused himself from hearing the case, which was resulted in dissolution of the bench.

The petitioners of the case, Shahid Naseem Gondal, Rana Ilmuddin Ghazi and Allah Bux Gondal advocates, who have now been deceased, had filed petitions against former presidents Pervez Musharraf, Asif Ali Zardari and ex-PM Yousaf Raza Gillani.

Rana Ilmuddin Ghazi Advocate had filed petitions against former president Pervez Musharraf’s proclamation of emergency in November 2007 and against another former head of the state Asif Ali Zardari’s holding the president’s office as well as the party office at the same time.

Petitioners Shahid Naseem Gondal and Allah Bux Gondal advocates had filed petitions seeking disqualification of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.
Punjab boards to release intermediate results tomorrow.

The wait is about to over as all the educational boards of Punjab will release the result of intermediate students tomorrow (Thursday) at 5:00 pm.

Whereas, the result of the matric students will be announced on October 16 at 5:00 pm.

Yesterday, Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar had ordered the Higher Education Department to release the results within 48 hours.

Upon the CM’s directive, Higher Education Department has directed all the educational boards of the province to release the results tomorrow, said a spokesperson of the Higher Education Department.

Earlier, the Punjab Board have delayed the announcement of intermediate part-II results that were due on September 30 as the Punjab Cabinet was yet to approve the examination policy.

Now, the Punjab govt had got the cabinet nod for the promotion policy through a circular on Tuesday that has paved the way for the announcement of the results.

The cabinet has also approved the promotion policy through a circular that included the formula under which the grace marks will be given to all the students and all the students will be declared as a pass.
