A legislative body of Upper House of parliament on Monday was informed that federal government was in process of revaluation of properties of Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC) across the country, which has over one trillion rupees market value.
Once the exact value of these properties determine, then some of these properties might be utilized for commercial purposes, which greatly helped the organization to become more profitable entity.
There were several precious properties with PTV in posh areas which worth billions of rupees and which were not properly utilized by the corporation, said Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said that there were several private TV channels were running their business in small buildings.
The government has decided to bring all properties of PTV in use for commercial purposes through public private partnership.
However, the minister said that currently revaluation of these properties were in progress through third party because it was gigantic task. One bidding process already done but it was cancel due to a single bidder took part in the process.
The minister claimed that it was the only way to put the PTV on right direction along with proper business model and make it a profitable organization.
Only Federal Cabinet has the authority to allow PTV to use its land for commercial bases. On 6th October 2021, new bidding process will begin for choosing a third party to revaluate the prices of PTV across the country.
The minister also claimed that PTVC has earned Rs1.3 billion only in 2020 and expressed the hope that it will increase the performance of PTV and clearance of its liabilities.
During last meeting, the Committee had directed PTVC to provide an optimization plan of lands and buildings under its administrative control, along with the optimization plan of lands and buildings under administrative control of Radio Pakistan.
Committee members were informed by officials that PTVC is in process of revaluation of its Lands & Buildings scattered all over the Country. It is a gigantic task and will be completed through third party for which the tender has been issued.
